The Harmonized System is the international standard for classifying traded goods, used by customs authorities and UN Comtrade worldwide.
The Harmonized System (HS) is a standardized numerical method of classifying traded products, maintained by the World Customs Organization and used by more than 200 economies. An HS code identifies a category of goods — for example, integrated circuits, uncoated paper, or piped natural gas — at increasing levels of detail (2-, 4-, and 6-digit).
